Reclaim the Wages
clutch sin like pearls
palms up to the sky
forsake the vulnerable
Reclaim the wages
debts paid in vengeance
cast and swept across
the blood pools at your feet
Reclaim the wages
not equal in our eyes
vulnerable among us
Saint-Féliu-d'Avall
My friend, you wrote to me
the beginning of your final year
you sent postcards
with pictures of sunscraped hills
patches of scrub trees
snow laid peaks dreaming down
stone gates in pastels
your caption in few words
of non-native tongue
a boat crosses the détroit
through the rocks
something to hang on the fridge
for the New Year
In a late exchange
your sickness held
plaintive short verses
tempered in translation
and colored over years
of slow and steady burn
punctuated by links to music
tedious and dutiful
profound and deeply forged
links over distance
linking past to future
unfinished writing
ending on fertile ground
between here and Auvergne
I checked for you
dutiful yet detached
sometimes weary
in novel bespoke obligation
a conduit between
limitless limitations
in scope of experience
imagining outcomes
and returning home to rest
diminishing cadence
I couldn’t read through
the translation in time
to say goodbye MM

Just Let it Sink In
White walls offset with pale blue chairs
extra padding vinyl on the seats and backs
cool toned and tension filled in excess
filed in sweet toleration of the drive down
a journey through little blue blots of sound
filtered through the echoes of chaos
At some point a trite joke breaks silence
fluorescent shine down beacons on the floor
risen voices hushed quiet tones betray reasons
we’re all here again
wringing hands over frozen states
walking back with your name
calling out
It’s a small room near the corner hall
I can see or sense a window
with unease and confusion layering
as fog was earlier that morning
in balmy winter there’s just nothing
approximating true daylight
Figures solemn determined gesture
steady movement doesn’t hesitate
or pause to bypass deliberation
my questions amiss in the room
oblivious to cues
just letting them pass through
my understanding

My Lover is Gone for the Weekend
I
feel so vulnerable and alone when you’re gone
when
I’m reflecting on trauma and pain from those times
from
the past when I couldn’t bear witness
to
descending spiral stairs my life sprang forth from
the
here and now
There
was a video from the past so long ago
and
I saw myself there within it my eyes red
glazed
weary in existence, sightlines and moments
obstructed
by futures obscured
I
was nothing but a sick patient
I
lay in bed, tired, eyes are heavy
my
mind raced to piece together timelines
of
where I was when I fell behind the curve
picking
up pieces scattered and stained on cement
it
was Fall so long ago
leaves
changed and it seems like forever
I
didn’t know you then but when I met you it felt weird
like
you’d overseen the path before
your
face familiar and knowing surreal
gaze
before me in your eyes
from
the other side of the bed
please
see me

Do I Know You?
Severed lungs
ripped out your chest
heart beating
in message he’s blessed
stimuli it’s sudden
returning in waves
etches a narrative
thread again
stitched black font
chyron of their dreams
reversed color seared
bled along the screen
tinderbox kept
wood wept and buried
high cabinet shelves
candle wax and stain
Brand in his eyes
forged fires of Hell
imprinted screens
thread again
Motion of shadows
within stories of shade
affixed with an emblem
according to plan
Hollow-bodied
regurgitate alone
rust on the fuse box
darkness becomes

Breached Idol
I
don’t want this breeding in me
bulging
eyes turn hemorrhaging
when
you can’t look the other way
dead
weight carves out vacant space
Here
is a script you’re born out of
eyes
glued white sheets drawn down
the
blank mask choking their airways
undressing
their wounds
What
is not done in thy name
in
punishment for their suffering
corrupt
the course and raze the faith
your
status idol purity
Give
birth to a vision you’re part of
acted
out on your behalf
blank
face expressing your terror
waging
worship
Here
is a script that you’re part of
its
tentacles can’t be outrun
consumed
and fed and exorcized
it’s
never owned
I
don’t want this breeding in me

don’t want this breeding in me

don’t want this breeding in me

Bright Flash and Shriek Strips
In just 50 years
those of us still living our eyes
will bulge out from our skulls
with a surface like that of a fly
with its green sheen and adjustable brightness
hardwired into our vision then controlled
remotely by the bald tips of their scaling fingers
Memories of daylight filter in
through shade from across a narrow room
with graying faux-brown floors and clinic-white
walls of blank expression with narrow slotted windows
and a fire extinguisher on the far end
toward a high-paneled ceiling with fluorescent strips
exposing and expressing currents
in imperfections on the floor
Shit and food flow through tubes
while lights and sounds speak to display
lines and shrieks of a new kind of rapture
and the widening pupils in our eyes
look back through black holes as vacant as
the space between this bold frontier
and the galaxy we came from
The vessels in our eyes racing
to deliver and distribute blood modified in the heart
and salinized in the brain devouring content
fed and regurgitated by the annals of human history
then coded into newly developed DNA

On The Sidewalk (W2)
Inputs ingrained
in
shit-stained outlines
leaving
their marks
on the sidewalk
long
past the date
of our expiration
Magnetized parameter
pushed
toward center collapse
of reason when
given
space to
splay its wares
in pressing
display
grasped
through an orifice
fully
formed and grappled
In-traffic enlightenment
full-stop meditations
on high
arresting
volume
of violent
collision
with metal
on metal
intersected
or crashing against
an opaque
window
bruised and
brushed dust
stirred at
the edges
Vampire bats encircling
helicopters
and beams
of God’s
grace
on the sidewalk
spotlight down
unholy white
scalpel
its custom
handle
etched with
my initials
and date of
birth

shaped by mirrors
escaping formation
Its pitch shifting
echo faded reason
recreating recesses

Surfacing face saved
precision fading
shading uncertainty
brushed bruised gray
Hints of blue blood
calm conscious
contrast veins
risen ridges in stark light
Sickness displayed
resigned in knots
common culmination
in twisted fate

Ghosts in the Ether
is the state that things are in
A pool drains down
to a point where brown water
leaves vegetation lines
on bleached concrete
I heard it described
that this hand was dealt cold-fisted
from the bottom of the deck
Some had overplayed it
although they may have just been ghosts
in the ether
Saturday morning cartoons
are context to others’ understanding
of the smoke that marks
this fire
Spiral vision is a landscape
sketched in a path
from the cornea
to the frontal lobe
It turns in on the user
driving its knife through the heart
of the matter
Sketched outlines of white light
simply illuminating blank black space
magnified and brought forth
into an immediate void
or ocean waves awash
in dreams lining the tides
of your stomach

The First Few Minutes of Into The Wild
Raised letters on steel plates
bolted tiny corners
bottoms of railroad cars
tracks like stitches laid
across snowy wilted wilderness
their division never rejoins
imprints wedged on land
like stitches reunite
frayed tendons
or severed skin
more like body modification
on this day so drastic
a stark contrast
to white-out sky
or prickly bristles
hinting in the snow
raised letters across metal
signs blood dripping
making fresh indentions in the snow
tracking whereabouts
marking fresh prey
slipping from one vessel
to further destinations
excavating an endpoint
division eschewed
division driving outcome
despite itself
its final resting place
arrived at honestly
through flawed means
alone

Reoccurring Characters
Every night
the black canvas projects
the ceiling
illuminates curtains
drawn shadows
operating covert
figures in the back
of my eyelids
Magnification
an orb atop her
shoulders, with bolts
of purple neon
current,
bolts
and beaded eyes
broadcasting doubt
decreeing inquiry
surveying
surrounding me
Voluminous imprints
reoccurring acts
flourish
incremental
then exponential
then crawling
then seeping through
gray-scaled plasma
splayed through corners
felt beyond just
peripheral vision
The weary structure
of bones, its face,
eyes recede as
sunken soil
hollowed out
in another time
characters are there
choreographed
imagined
feet not moving
words not meaning
signals in silence
slipping away
referencing loss
the lack of closure

Suicide Pact
Mutually assured
destruction
cowed in hollowed
ground,
tread and trodden and bled
justified in spirals
spun untoward
Spatial suffocation song
formed in bleeding ears
dried-stain-dirt
finely crusted, over-wrought
its stench wafts like smoke
in the sun
What the end looks like now
is then unformed and raw
rank typicity
from bowels of vacuum gas
to howls of the stricken
spared conjecture
in far corners
leveled cross-quartered
insignia
Refracted light
dim yellow bulbs
fractured and street-lethal
jagged dead ends
driven divergent
given to thee

Sprinkler Systems
It is with sadness
unease of passage
to report confirmation
slipstream of a sketchbook
death of,, depth of
by the millions
cardboard cutouts
sideways glance
through slotted ovals
magic marker tears
smearing away
wiping blunted gray
fingertips obscure
their facial features
Its fracture redounds
graded sun-cast light
off-kilter shadows
echoes not quite vivid
as life imprints
yet more imbedded
more real than shifting
scapes of dreams
Line enraptures
a moment’s queue
awe of beauty
plaza marquee
spun down frame
black metallic spider
larger than circling otherwise
web glowing
the summer dusk
waiting ensconced
above a melee of
waiting cars
transcending cities
Moved to remark
words lifted and erased
breathless sound
gasping inward heaves
the spider waved down
breezily motioned
like leaves or a snowflake
crushed beneath his feat
leather shoes
kind of orange
maybe brown
a passing moment
mortal amusement
keeping good company
ceremonial rites
of planned obsolescence

Post-Positive Addition To Your Culture
![]() |
| Vintage Watching Eye from The Graphics Fairy |
There was this incredible amount
of
residual weight and space carving
as a chisel and a light tap hammer
might while looking up brightly
voided
out in the ceiling a blank canvas
in which to carve out a new churning
slate
Dreams set in and then hours burn
until their wake and imprint locks
and strains
its tension inertia upon
extremities at rest
The façade of movement in
repetition
patterns strewn in piles of stained
logic
planned and plotted, pointed in one
direction
and another from the bed to the
sink
to the drain, then moved again to
cover
signs of distress
Its lift, inverse weightlessness
burrowed parasite feeding on the
guts and brains
freely dispersed to attendees
immersed in shunting feigned consensus
in absentia
